In addition to specializing

a key role in the development of the United States Eye Injury Registry
that has served as a model for similar surveillance systems in over

several sections at various international meetings on the management
of vitreoretinal disorders and on eye injuries.

standard in classifying eye injuries. Dr. Kuhn serves on the editorial
board of the Hungarian Journal of Ophthalmology. He is currently
editing a major book on ocular trauma.
Dr. Kuhn serves as a
scientific reviewer for several ophthalmological journals. He was
the principal investigator of a half-a-million-dollar grant from
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to develop an Ocular
Trauma Score, which, for the first time, helps the ophthalmologist
predict the likely visual outcome of the injured eye. Dr. Kuhn conducts
eye injury research in Birmingham, but continues his clinical practice
by regular visits to Pecs, Hungary.
